Smokey Mountains 2011
On our way to the Smokey's we stopped off at a paradise of more than 20,000 acres sprawled across the eastern top of the rugged Cumberland Plateau, Fall Creek Falls State Park is one of the most scenic and spectacular outdoor recreation areas in America. Laced with cascades, gorges, waterfalls, streams, and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber, the park beckons those who enjoy nature at her finest. While Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is the highest waterfall in the eastern United States, other waterfalls in the park are Piney and Cane Creek Falls and Cane Creek Cascades, then it was on to the Smokey Mountain. No matter how many times I go to the Smokey Mountains it is like a new photo adventure.

Grotto Falls: Grotto Falls is part of a route to Mt. LeConte, a lodge on top of Mt. LeConte Mountain. This particular route is used by a Lama Train to get supplies up to the lodges. The Lama Train follows the Trillium Gap Trail, a trail that goes behind Grotto Falls. The trail is approximately 2.6 miles round trip and only climbs 520 feet. This falls attracts a lot of visitors so hiking to it early in the morning is a good idea.
