Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center
The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center showcases the cultural history and natural resources of southeast Missouri. Indoors, the nature center features hands-on exhibits for all ages, including the Corbin Collection of American Indian artifacts, freshwater aquariums, wildlife viewing areas, classrooms and a 160 seat auditorium. Don’t miss the two headed snake. Outdoors, explore the White Oak Trace, which has two miles of trails winding through poplar and oak trees, sinkholes and a small, man-made swamp. The nature center grounds include gardens featuring native wildflowers. At the Kid's Fishing Pond, children younger than 16 can try their hand at fishing for a variety of species. Poles and worms are available for use at no charge.
There is a 1.25 paved trail which connects this area with the Cape LaCroix Trail.
The Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail allows citizens to walk, run, cycle, rollerblade, skate or skate board throughout Cape Girardeau on a paved surface. The trail provides a travel corridor from Shawnee Park through the City of Cape Girardeau to Osage Park. In 2014 a shaded outdoor fitness area "Fit Zone" was added to the Arena Park area of the trail. The FitZone features strength equipment to enhance your trail workout. This outdoor playground isn't just for kids! This FREE, outdoor fitness area includes 8 pieces of equipment for a full body strength workout at your convenience all year round! This area also includes a very large water park open during the summer months.

Nature Center Facility with Lake
The Cape Nature Center was built on the Cape Girardeau County Park located between Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Missouri. This beautiful park is home to two well stocked fishing lakes with handy-capped fishing amenities. The park also is home to one of the best safety developed play grounds for children of all ages and it too is handy-capped accessible. Walking trails grace and intertwine around the lakes and the area is encased by a nice 3/4 mile road, great for bicycling. Picnic areas available. The park consists of a north side and south side and a 18 hole Disc Golf Course.
