Glacier National Park 2007
Glacier consists of pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains, and spectacular lakes. With over 700 miles of trails, Glacier is a hiker's paradise for visitors seeking wilderness and solitude. Glacier has only one road to cross it’s over 1 million acres and has been kept un-commercialized except for its historic chalets, lodges, transportation, and stories of Native Americans. Just outside the eastern half of the park is part of the Black Feet Reservation, who sold the land to the United States for the current park. (Click on Gil-bear to return to the main menu.)

Many Glacier Lake. It was hard taking pictures at this time of year due to the forest fires, note the smoke haze covering this shot. To get to Many Glacier we traveled highway 89 on the east side of the park. At one point we came upon a camp ground of volunteer fire fighters, numbering around 900 strong. My friend who lives in the area stated that at that location they were trying to control a 19 mile fire. There were fires throughout the area most ignitated by electrical storms.
